Crise et urgence
You Do Not Have to Wait for an Emergency

Many people believe they should call a mental-health line only in extreme emergencies. CIPUH is here for crisis — and also for the moments before crisis, when something feels heavy, confusing, frightening, or too much to carry alone. You do not need a diagnosis, perfect words, or proof that your pain is “serious enough.”
This guide explains when reaching out can help, what happens when you call, and how to take the first step even if you feel unsure.
You can call when…
You are in acute distress, panic, or crisis
Stress, grief, anxiety, or trauma is building and hard to manage
You are worried about someone close to you and need guidance
You feel lonely, overwhelmed, or unsafe and need a calm listener
You are not sure what you need — only that something does not feel right
Waiting until everything collapses is not a requirement. Early contact often makes support more effective.
What happens when you reach CIPUH
Your first point of contact is a trained First Listener. They are prepared in active listening, crisis intervention, ethics, and psychological first aid. Their role is to listen without judgment, help stabilize the immediate moment, and understand what kind of support may help next.
If specialized or longer-term care is needed, CIPUH may help connect you to additional professional support or referral pathways when available.
How to prepare (optional)
You do not need to prepare. If it helps, you can note:
What is happening right now
Whether you or someone else is in immediate danger
A safe place you can be while you talk
Privacy and respect
CIPUH is committed to ethical, confidential psychological support. Listeners treat conversations with discretion and respect. If there is an immediate safety risk, they may help connect you to emergency services — the goal is protection, not punishment.
Remember
Reaching out is a courageous act. You can call for yourself or for guidance about someone you love. CIPUH is available so no one has to face emotional crisis alone.
Call CIPUH at 2919-9000 — free, confidential, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
