You
Do I have to be in an emergency to contact CIPUH?
C
CIPUH
No. You can call when something feels difficult to carry, when you are experiencing emotional distress, or when you are worried about someone else. CIPUH is here for crisis — and also for the moments before crisis. You do not need to wait until the situation becomes unbearable.
You
What happens when I call?
C
CIPUH
Your first point of contact is a trained First Listener. They listen without judgment, help you slow down the immediate moment, and understand what kind of support may help next. You do not need perfect words or a diagnosis — start with what you are feeling.
You
What if I’m not sure what to say?
C
CIPUH
You do not need a script or a diagnosis. Start with what is happening right now, even if the words feel incomplete. A trained First Listener will listen without judgment and help you take the next step.
You
Can I contact CIPUH because I am worried about someone else?
C
CIPUH
Yes. You can call for guidance when you are concerned about a family member, friend, or someone in your care. A First Listener can help you think through how to support them and what next steps may be useful.
You
What happens if I need more support?
C
CIPUH
When specialized or longer-term care is needed, the First Listener can help connect you to an on-call mental-health professional — such as a psychologist or social worker — or to available referral pathways. The goal is to support you in the moment and, when needed, help you find the next step.
You
Is my conversation confidential?
C
CIPUH
CIPUH is committed to respectful, ethical psychological support. Conversations are handled with discretion and care. Confidentiality has limits when someone’s safety is at risk or when the law requires disclosure — the aim is protection, not punishment. Final confidentiality wording follows CIPUH’s approved clinical policy.
You
Is the service free, and when can I call?
C
CIPUH
Yes. CIPUH’s support line is free. Call 2919-9000 any time — CIPUH operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You do not need to prepare what you will say before you reach out.
You
What languages can I use when I contact CIPUH?
C
CIPUH
You can reach out in Haitian Creole or French — the languages people most often use with CIPUH. Start in the language that feels most natural. The important part is that you are heard.
